Roy Kosonen provides:
     Historical background,

called "Reppurin Laulu", ("The Peddler's Song.")
It was composed by the Finnish song-writer Oskari Merikanto, sometime in the late 19th or early 20th century. The lyrics are in the Livvi dialect of the Aunus (Olonets) region of East Karelia,
on the north shore of Laatokka (Ladoga).
