The Leading Star newspaper has been published since January, 1906 (111 yrs). Between 1906 & 1920, TheLeading Star (LEDSTJÄRNAN) was published by the "Temperance Association" - in 1920 the "Temperance Association" & the "Benefit Association" merged to form the International Order of Runeberg (IOR). The IOR, at it's August, 2014 International Convention voted to disband in 2015. The Leading Star, and this website are supported by the remaining Order of Runeberg lodges, listed in the main menu under "Lodges" Commencing with the March, 2013 issue, the format has changed from "newspaper" format to standard "letter" size pages, in Adobe Acrobat (pdf). This new format facilitates distribution via web and email. Therefore, this web page will contain the most recent quarterly (March, June, September, and December) issues of the Leading Star, and past issues (all pdf formatted Leading Star newspapers, commencing with the March, 2013 issue). With the dissolution of IOR on March 31st, 2015, it was decided to provide funds to continue the Leading Star for approximately three years. - the last issue is the June - August 2017 issue.. New!Our Leading Star Editor, Dale Hjort, has recently provided 9 additional issues of The Leading Star in pdf format. The 9 issues now available include March, 2010, and all 4 issues from 2011 & 2012. The newspaper is viewed using "Adobe Acrobat Reader". Most computers already have "Adobe Acrobat Reader" installed.
